nata a Monaco di Baviera ma ormai da quasi quarant’anni vive e lavora in Italia,  in un vecchio podere vicino al Castello di Brolio, a Gaiole in Chianti, dove la trama dei filari della vite si intreccia con il fitto ordito del bosco.

La mia passione per la tessitura nasce già da bambina, quando un piccolo telaio da tavolo mi fu regalato da mia madre ed fece nascere in me il grande amore per la tessitura tradizionale.

Crescendo, la mia forte passione fu sempre un po’ contrastata dalla famiglia e dovette attendere il 1980 ed il mio trasferimento in Italia per dare spazio alla mia passione. Nello splendido casolare lo spazio non mancava e la voglia di imparare a tessere nemmeno, cosi nel 1991 in uno degli annessi nacque il laboratorio di TESSITURA A MANO.

Autodidatta, ho impiegato un po’ di tempo per capire il funzionamento di un telaio professionale ma grazie agli anni dedicati ad imparare l’antico mestiere di tessitura ed insistendo con i miei libri, oggi produco bellissimi prodotti artigianali e porto avanti con passione l’antica arte della tessitura a mano.

Nel laboratorio ci sono ormai 4 telai di legno, di varie larghezze, di cui uno risalente addirittura al settecento. Tutto ha origine dalla natura; le fibre utilizzate, vegetali e animali, sono di altissima qualità (seta, cotone, lino, canapa, morbidissime e pregiate lane merino, mohair, alpaca e cashmere ) in un paradosso cromatico, riflettono i colori del cielo e delle colline toscane, ocra, ruggine, terra di Siena, verde olivastro, ma anche colori vivaci come arancio, rosso, fucsia, viola etc. La maggior parte dei manufatti sono pezzi unici (difficilmente riproducibili) o piccole serie.

I manufatti artigianali sono:

-        asciugamani, teli da bagno e cucina, tovagliette in cotone, lino o canapa
-        sciarpe, stole, poncho in merinos, mohair, alpaca, cashmere, cotone, bamboo, lino e seta

Da qualche anno oltre la Tessitura ho ricomiciato la TINTURA NATURALE, la TINTURA con colori acidi e la FILATURA con il Filarino o il Fuso

was born in Monaco of Bavaria but for over thirty years lives and works in Italy, in an old farm near the Castle of Brolio, in Gaiole in Chianti, where the plot of the rows of vines is interwoven with the dense warp of the forest.

Her passion for weaving was born when she was a child, when a small desktop chassis that was given to her by her mother gave rise in her a great love for traditional weaving.

Growing up, her passion was always a little opposed by the family and she had to wait until 1980 and her transfer to Italy to give vent to her passion. In the beautiful farmhouse space wasn’t missing and the desire to learn how to weave neither, so in 1991 in one of the outbuildings born the laboratory WEAVING BY HAND by Stefanie.

Self-taught, she spent a lot of time to understand the operation of a professional chassis, but thanks to years dedicated to learn the ancient craft of weaving and insisting with her books, today she produces beautiful craft products and carries on with passion the ancient art of weaving by hand.

In the laboratory there are now 5 chasses of wood, of various widths, two of which dating back to the eighteenth century. Everything comes from nature; fibers used, plants and animals, are of highest quality (silk, cotton, flax, hemp, soft and fine merino wool, mohair, alpaca and cashmere) in a paradox of color, reflecting the colors of sky and of Tuscan hills, ocher, rust, sienna, olive green, but also bright colors like orange, red, fuchsia, purple etc. Most of the artifacts are unique (difficult to reproduce) or small series.

The artifacts are:

- Towels, bath and kitchen sheets, placemats in cotton, linen or hemp

- Scarves, stoles, poncho in merino, mohair, alpaca, cashmere, cotton, bamboo, linen and silk for the summer.

- Some yarn as merino and bamboo is hand-spun with filarino then add in the tissues.
